‘I felt like an executioner’: ‘Next Level Chef’ winner Austin Beckett reflects on his historic victory
"I didn't want to be the first guy to win and be the only winner to cry," says Austin Beckett, who made history on Next Level Chef as the first male winner and the first member from Team Richard Blais to take home the Fox cooking competition’s top prize.
Austin defeated Team Gordon Ramsay's Beatrice Heirigs and his own teammate, Megan Keno, in the Season 4 finale after cooking a three-course meal worth $250,000 and a one-year mentorship with Gordon, Richard, and Nyesha Arrington.
"Immediately, the weight of being the winner dropped on my shoulders," he tells Gold Derby. "I couldn't think about the money — I couldn't think about anything else but being the winner. I immediately thought, 'What's next?' I have an entire season to represent."
The 30-year-old professional chef put everything on the line to participate in the life-changing competition, quitting his job as a private chef for a prestigious client in South Florida. "As a private chef, your reputation is everything," Austin says. "It's not just about cooking, it's also

Tonight on Next Level Chef: The final three chefs have made it to the last round of the competition and have proven that they have what it takes to claim the title. But first, they must create an outstanding three-course meal in just 90 minutes.
