It’s lightweight, affordable, and easy to tote on trips. The Cosco Scenera Next is one of the most popular travel wagon seats out there, but is it safe and worth using?
Now that my son has aged out of his infant wagon seat, this is the one we travel with after reading numerous reviews stating that this is THE travel car seat.

When it comes to travel car seats I always say that unfortunately, there’s no ideal solution when you look at the models sold in the US. Realistically, in the US there are only two options for toddlers and preschoolers: WayB Pico and Cosco Scenera Next.
Especially if you want the car seat to be FAA-approved (which isn’t a must, but some prefer it), these are the only lightweight options that don’t require extra carts to drag through the airport. We used both WayB Pico (full review here) and Cosco Scenera on numerous trips and both car seats have pros and cons.
Which one is better? Or, is there a better solution?

Cosco Scenera NEXT Travel Car Seat
The supply chain for this product has unfortunately broken down and we are notexpecting stock for this year.
The Cosco Scenera NEXT is designed with Side Impact Protection built into the headrest, and a five-point harness that adjusts easily from the front of the seat. The harness is adjustable to five different heights and the crotch strap/buckle can also be adjusted to three different lengths to adapt to your growing child.
Flying with the Cosco Scenera NEXT is a breeze - certified for use on an aircraft, it gives your child a familiar seat during the flight. The lightweight (only 3kg!) design also gets you in and out of the airport without getting weighed down.
We're no stranger to how children can be in the car (been there, done that). Thankfully, the car seat pad removes easily, and is both machine washable and dryer safe. Even the cup holder is dishwasher safe! The Cosco Scenera NEXT handles all the stress so you don't have to.
Note:
When using the Cosco Scenera NEXT outside the USA, you must use a seat belt locking clip (our taxi-friendly locking clip is the easiest). The US has different seat belts from the rest of
The Cosco Scenera NEXT is a lightweight, budget-friendly convertible car seat that’s got a lot to offer. The Scenera name has a long history in the Child Passenger Safety world. The Scenera has had a few rebrandings over the years. The Scenera 40RF was short-lived but dearly loved by advocates until it was replaced by the Cosco Apt 40. Cosco’s sister brand, Safety 1st, markets the Onside Air, which sits on a Scenera shell with a fancier cover and side impact ‘air bags’, but the seat available at box stores today is pretty much the same seat it was 9 years ago.
At 2014 Kidz in Motion Conference, Cosco surprised us all with the announcement that the Scenera was getting quite the makeover. I was lucky enough to get one of my own preceding the official commercial release, and without further ado, here is the new Cosco Scenera NEXT, which is available for around $46 retail.
