Starting in Patch 6.1, land will be available for purchase in Ishgard’s residential district, Empyreum!

In addition, changes to purchasing methods, such as the lottery system, will be implemented across all residential districts.

Empyreum

Empyreum is comprised of 48 available wards (24 main/24 subdivision). Exterior fixtures are designed to complement the surrounding Ishgardian architecture.

* In order to travel to Empyreum, you must first complete the sidequest “Ascending to Empyreum”.

Methods of Purchasing Land

Depending on the housing ward, land may be purchased on a first-come, first-served basis, or by lottery.

At the release of Patch 6.1, all land available for purchase will be subject to the lottery system.

Purchase Availability

Housing areas are divided into plots available for purchase by either free companies or private buyers, and a plot’s usage is restricted accordingly.

How does the housing lottery system fully work? I have looked high and low everyone is saying you just throw money at the placard and wait. But that's not how it's seeming to work. I am sitting here waiting at a house or did earlier this morning for the "Results Period to end" and when it 'ends' it just cycles over to a brand new date about a week from what it was originally. Anyone able to explain this truly odd system?

If you’re trying to obtain a house in Final Fantasy 14, you’ll need to compete the lottery system.

The FFXIV lottery system consists of five “entry period” days, followed by four “results period” days. You’ll want to place your bid during the entry period days and if you win, finalize your purchase during the results period days. (If you don’t claim your win during the results period, you will forfeit the plot and lose 50% of your deposit. Yikes!)

You can also check where the housing schedule is in game by opening your Timers menu and selecting the housing tab.

If you’re trying to plan ahead, we list out the FFXIV housing schedule for September 2025 below. Record that our schedule does not take any maintenance times into account, so you may demand to bid or claim your houses a day or so earlier to accommodate for this.

    FFXIV’s housing lottery runs on a cycle with five days where you can enter a bid for a plot and four days where the game randomly picks a winning bidder. There’s some overlap with each period, since the first result day starts after the server reset time on the last entry day, so it’s best to get your bid in as early as you can, if possible.

    The first Dawntrail housing lottery began on June 29, 2024, and the initial entry period runs through July 4, 2024. That results period runs until server reset on July 8, 2024.

    The rest of the schedule looks like this:

    • July 8 - July 13: Entry period
    • July 13 - July 17: Results period
    • July 17 - July 22: Entry period
    • July 22 - July 26: Results period
    • July 26 - July 31: Entry period
    • July 31 - Aug 4: Results period
