GGG Is Open To Fighting Again – ‘I’m Not Retired’

Gennadiy Golovkin could box again as the Khazak remains open to a return.

GGG’s last fight was in 2022 when he lost to Canelo Alvarez. That capped off their trilogy, with Golovkin failing to win a single fight. He is currently 42-2-1. He was arguably deprived of his biggest win when he faced Canelo for the first time. The 42-year-old was the better fighter.

However, the fight was scored a split draw, as Canelo won the remaining two fights. At 42, GGG is the current President of Kazakhstan’s National Olympic Committee. This signified that he may be calling time on his boxing career. However, his promoter, Tom Loeffler, wants to see his man in one more fight. Golovkin is open to doing that.

“I was always hoping for one more fight, whether it was a farewell fight in Kazakhstan, or one of these matchups you see in the Middle East, that type of thing. That’s a very high position in Kazakhstan – he’s not only the head of Olympic boxing in the country, he’s the head of every sport of the national Olympic team in Kazakhstan.

“So, that’s a full-time job for him….It se

Boxing rumors: GGG may return to professional arena in 2025

According to boxingnews.com, Turki Al-Sheikh, an investor from Saudi Arabia, offered Golovkin to return to the professional arena.

It is reported that Golovkin was promised to be paid handsomely for his return to the ring and offered to fight vs Terence Crawford (41-3-0, 31KO) in the first half of 2025 in Saudi Arabia.

The possible bout will be Crawford's preparation for the fight vs. Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez (61-2-2, 39KO) in super middleweight. Golovkin will be his first rival in the middleweight, as he has already faced Alvarez for three times. Crawford will have to move up two weight classes to chase Canelo's belts.

Earlier, in an interview with Boxingscene.com, the Head of Kazakhstan's National Olympic Committee said he had never announced his retirement.

“I've never announced my retirement. Time will show. Now I have tasks, I love what I am doing. At the same time, life means movement for me. If I see a serious challenge comes my way, and I see that this is a good way to switch gears, and if I see it is a good way to adjust my path or my movement, perhaps I will accept this challenge.

Gennady Golovkin's radical life decision: What did the boxer who's never been floored do?

Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin hasn't stepped into a ring since the fight that closed the trilogy with Canelo Alvarez in September 2022 and, to be honest, it looks like he won't do it again, as he has been named president of the Kazakhstan Olympic Committee.

Although he has never announced his retirement from the sport, the fact that he was unanimously elected to such a representative position is an indication that the middleweight king will not have the time required to continue his career at the age of 41.

And what a career it was. Over 45 professional fights he has never been knocked out or even knocked down and the number is even more absurd if we consider his amateur career. Perhaps the best iron chin in boxing history, he has never been seriously hurt in 395 fights.

Golovkin, who is about to turn 42, replaces businessman Timur Kulibayev as head of his country's Olympic organization. It is worth remembering that as an amateur, 'GGG' achieved an incredible record of 345-5, winning the silver medal at the 2004 Athens Games and the gold medal at the 2003 Bangkok World Championship
