Curmel moton next fight time

The progression and evolution of 18-year-old lightweight phenom Curmel Moton continues Saturday when the Floyd Mayweather Jr. protégé takes on Renny Viamonte at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Although Moton (7-0, 6 KOs) has quickly proven that he’s must-see TV, his eight-round fight against Viamonte (4-1-1, 2 KOs) will take place on the untelevised portion of the PBC on Prime Video card headlined by Caleb Plant and Jermall Charlo returning in separating fights.

Richard Schaefer, the former Golden Boy Promotions CEO who is currently serving in an advisory and business manager role for Canelo Alvarez, handled the 18-time national champion Moton's career while working with Mayweather in recent years.

Schaefer has over a quarter century of experience in the business, and he told The Ring that the well-seasoned Moton has all the ingredients to be one of the future faces of boxing.

Hall of Fame fighter-turned-promoter Floyd Mayweather Jr. is eager to make a significant fight for his latest protégé.

Just as the planned rematch between his former understudy Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach fell apart, Mayweather posted an image of a fight poster Friday calling for a clash between rising phenom Curmel Moton and the WBA junior lightweight titleholder.

"Let’s make this fight happen," Mayweather wrote on Instagram. “Curmel Moton is already in. Roach, let’s do it. Even if I have to put up the money."

Roach responded on X and wrote, "Come on now Floyd," with a laughing-face emoji. "Set it up with me and you! We can run it, let’s see what you got left in that gas tank!"

Instead of taking on Roach in a sequel once planned for June 21 and then August 16, Davis has moved on to an exhibition against Jake Paul on Nov. 14 in Atlanta. Davis’ fight plans were further complicated after his majority draw in March against Roach when he was arrested for alleged domestic violence on July 11. The charges were dropped last week.

“See y'all soon … I guess!” Davis wrote on Instagram on Thursday. “ATL gonna be too turnt.”
