Answers: Tilson’s “Nuclear Renaissance” Tease for “Recession-proof stocks”
This article was originally published on June 6, but the ad is running heavily again now as a “recession-proof stocks” pitch so we’re re-posting to answer reader questions. Neither the ad nor this article have been updated since early June.
Whitney Tilson has rejoined the nuclear power parade, launching a new teaser pitch recently for his Commodity Supercycles newsletter at Stansberry (first year $49, renews at $199, includes a one-year trial of Stansberry’s Investment Advisory, also now edited by Tilson). Here’s how the ad begins:
“This Invention Will Create More Wealth than Any Technology in History
“5 times more wealth than cars, smartphones, and computers – combined… yet it fits in the back of a flatbed truck.
“And experts say this technology could see 12,679% growth starting this year.”
That’s generally a “small modular reactors will surge” prediction, which is a pretty common sentiment these days.
When it comes to nuclear power in general, I’m probably “this year skeptic
Wrapping up a surprisingly strong earnings season … a special prediction with Louis Navellier and Whitney Tilson … is the S&P about to enter a “Stage-2 breakout”? … why Luke Lango is bullish
We’re wrapping up an earnings season that ended up miles better than analysts had forecasted.
Earnings were down – “bad” on an absolute basis – but their better-than-expected performance surprised the market – so, “good” on a relative basis.
While absolute earnings drive a stock’s long-term performance, earnings surprises are what push around prices in the short-term. So, given the positive relative surprise, the S&P has not only survived this earnings season, it’s up about 2% since it began.
Let’s jump to FactSet, which is the go-to earnings data analytics group used by the pros. From their Earnings Insight report last Friday:
At this late stage of the Q1 2023 earnings season, S&P 500 companies are recording their best performance relative to analyst expectations since Q4 2021. While doing the groundwork for my latest Stansberry Investment Advisory review featuring Whitney Tilson, what immediately caught my attention was the bold idea of a so‑called “U.S.: IPO.” The concept points to an enormous transfer of America’s organic resource wealth into the widespread markets, a story that Tilson believes could unlock trillions of dollars in value that could trickle down to anyone positioned correctly. In this review, I’ll step you through what this means, how the advisory is structured, and whether the service truly delivers on its promise. >> Snatch Whitney Tilson’s Latest Stock Picks NOW! << The Stansberry Investment Advisory is the longest-running (launched way assist in 1999) and most widely followed newsletter service published by Stansberry Research and led by veteran analyst Whitney Tilson. I spent some time around the NYPD. When you say you want to “make crime illegal again,” explain what that means. Until COVID hit, crime was going down under Bill de Blasio. So how do you want to use the NYPD more proactively?
I actually don’t think it starts with the NYPD. It starts with legislation. Let me step back. When I say making crime illegal again, I mean that eight pieces of legislation passed, roughly 2019 to 2020, that basically went way too far in decriminalizing almost all but the serious crimes. And not surprisingly, we’ve seen a lot more of it, and that’s led to an increase in more serious crimes. So I’ve tracked the data. Since right before the pandemic, from 2019 through 2024, seven major felonies are up, adjustedWhitney Tilson Empire Financial Research
