6-Banner Sunday: IU basketball adds two walk-ons, women’s non-conference schedule announced

Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a combined production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall, where we highlight the five most essential IU basketball stories of the past week, plus take a look at how the other IU sports programs are doing.

IU basketball’s roster recently welcomed two new walk-ons. While these players are not expected to have major roles, they will provide depth for practice.

Additionally, women’s basketball announced its non-conference schedule and football recorded its second victory. As usual, we will conclude with weekly shows and a look at other Hoosier sports, which was highlighted by soccer emerging victorious against two ranked squads.

Indiana women’s basketball announces non-conference schedule

Indiana women’s basketball released its 2025-26 non-conference schedule Wednesday. The Hoosiers are set to begin their regular season against Lipscomb University on Nov. 4 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington. 

The Hoosiers will play 13 non-conference games this season. The slate includes nine games at Assembly Hall — including an exhibition game against Missouri University of Science and Technology on Oct. 27 — two away games and two games at a neutral site.

Indiana women’s basketball has announced its non-conference schedule for the 2025-26 season.

Head coach Teri Moren has completely revamped her roster this offseason, with six outbound transfers joining some major pieces graduating. Only five player remain from the 2024-25 roster, with only senior guard Shay Ciezki having played major minutes.

The new-look Hoosiers could face some early tests this year. They played only one true road game in non-conference play last season, at Butler, which still had a heavy contingent of IU fans in the crowd. But this season, Indiana has two non-conference road games: at Florida State on Sunday, Nov. 16, and at Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 1 p.m. ET. IU hosts Butler in between those two games.

After the FGCU contest, Moren’s team will face its toughest competition of the non-conference slate in the Coconut Hoops Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. IU gets Gonzaga on Black Friday, Nov. 28 at 1:30 p.m. ET, and then plays either Iowa State or Marquette on Sunday, Nov. 30 at either 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. ET.

The Big Ten announced women’s basketball conference opponents for the 2025-26 season earlier today and Indiana’s Big Ten opponents for next season will be as follows:

Home: Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Penn State, Washington, Oregon
Away: Illinois, Maryland, Nebraska, Ohio State, Rutgers, Wisconsin, UCLA, USC
Home/Away: Purdue

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced the full breakdown of conference opponents for all 18 schools for the 2025-26 women’s basketball season. Each member institution will play an 18-game conference schedule, playing one school both home and away, while facing 16 teams once. Of the single-play opponents, member institutions will play eight at home and eight on the road.
